18 July 2005 - Introducing ... DUNCAN JAMES! Dunc 'ere will be taking over the lead guitar duties in The Hillbilly Moon Explosion as from now. And boy does he rock! He's played with people like Wanda Jackson, Jeff Healey and - get this - The Shangri-Las. Duncan Alexander Rupert James hails from Shrewsbury in Shropshire (try saying that when you're drunk). 28 April 2005 - The legendary Hasil 'Haze' Adkins died April 25th. Nowadays every town has their guitar player behind a trap drum playing primitive rockabilly and blues. But there was only one original: The Haze from West Virginia. I remember first hearing his seminal song "She Said" off the Rockabilly Psychosis and the Garage Disease compilation. The very next day I decided to start a band. Hasil Adkins R.I.P.

18 April 2005 - Hey ho Emanuela's on the cover of the Dutch magazine Boppin' Around. After a rave review in their last issue, the good folks from Boppin' Around decided they liked us enough to slap our lead singer on the cover and feature a double spread special on the HME. Cheers!

9 March 2005 - Finally: The long awaited Maniac Lover - Director's Cut video clip is online. As you might know, 2 versions of the 'Maniac Lover' video were made. Oliver's favourite, the no-cut one-take 'Anti-Video', and the mucho wild original version complete with concert footage and an over-enthusiastic female fan from a legendary gig down the Cafe Mokka in Thun. Enjoy.

1 March 2005 - Look what I found: The dating site rockabillydate.com yielded an absolutely gorgeous girl who's into the HME. Quote: "I listen to psychobilly, rockabilly, surf, and swing. Right now I'm listening to a lot of Hillbilly Moon Explosion (...)". Yesss! She's from Ontario, has an affection for rats, is excellent at baking cookies and goes by the name of "Horrorhellcat13." 20 February 2005 - Hiya, Oliver here. I'll be sitting in with the legendary Aad Hollander Trio from Hell tonight and next Sunday 27 Feb down the Helsinki Klub (that's Geroldstr. ZH 5). Rienk was kind enough to give the full details in our guestbook. So come on down and watch me screw up!

16 November 2004 - Bye bye Patrick: Our beloved guitar player Patrick Geser has decided he needs a breather. He will be leaving us per end of 2004 for at least one year. So you people better not miss your chance to see this man in action in Solothurn and Zurich!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Patrick for all his work and wonderful guitar playing. Live and on record - that's some mighty fine pickin' you got going there, Patrick.
Guitarist auditions will take place next Sunday morning in the alley between the church and the old folks home.

30 October 2004 - By popular demand: One last gig for 2004! Yes, we were planning to have December off, but the kind people from the Moods club have been knocking on our door for a while now. So after a suitable amount of groveling at our feet, lavish flower bouquets for Emanuela and a crate of Scotch we decided to close our 2004 live season with a gig down the Moods on December 11. Be there!

Catch you round the next bend! Apropos 'round the bend' - this is what Luke looked like the morning after Calella.
London - The Shepherds Bush Empire has got to be the coolest club on the planet. And the crew the nicest people on the planet. And all that with the Stray Cats. The response was huge - thanks to all you kind folk who have emailed us since then.
Lucerne - Great gig, great audience. And - Emanuela has been saying this for years - the prettiest girls around. When can we come back?

7 July 2004 - A taste of things to come. Hmm ... interesting: Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom in a Les Bleus t-shirt. Should please our drummer Luke. Nothing too fanatical from our part, since with English, Italian, French and Swiss members/roots going on in our band, there's no way we can find common ground. 23 October 2003 - A last-minute gig here: The good people from the Fri-Son in Fribourg called up and asked us if we want to play their opening party. Well, hey, we're happy to oblige. Looking forward to seeing our friends from le French-speaking part of the country.

1 October 2003 - Sad news: Ronnie Dawson - the Blond Bomber, the Action-Packed King of Texas Rockabilly - died yesterday 30 September 2003.
Ronnie Dawson was a huge influence on me - so great that I opted to cover one of his greatest songs: The comparatively recent "Fish Outa Water". The song remains a staple of Hillbilly Moon Explosion live shows. My thoughts go out to Chris and the rest of the Dawson family. Ronnie Dawson R.I.P.

29 July 2003 - Guess what? Guitar manufacturers Fender and Gretsch have announced the reissue of certain models, namely the Gretsch 6120 Nashville Double Cutaway and the Fender Jag-Stang. Why I mention this? Well these are the precise guitars Patrick and Emanuela have been using all along! Check out our 'Gear' section! Seems like we're one step ahead of the trend.
Either that or Messrs Fender and Gretsch are copying us...
